About Us

Sastya began as a breeding and showing kennel in 1978, with the purchase of our first purebred dog, a Great Dane. This dog earned an obedience title, and I was hooked on showing dogs. A subsequent Great Dane earned additional titles, and in 1981 I purchased my first “show prospect” Great Dane puppy who became my first champion, multi-specialty winning, top ten ranked dog (Ch. Danel’s TKO by Sastya, CD).

In the mid-1980s, I got my first Gordon Setter puppy, Ch. JP’s Heavenly Hallmark Sastya, who was in the top 5 in the country, breeder/owner handled by Ellen Jones, Gordie’s co-owner.

Sastya has been instrumental in the breeding or owning of close to 75 champions of many different breeds in the last 20+ years, including a group placing Miniature Poodle, a Norwegian Elkhound, and a Samoyed. But, in the last 15 years, I have concentrated on my true love, Gordon Setters.

This is a resilient breed, very affectionate and devoted to family. I have dedicated myself to producing healthy and happy Gordons, and my breeding stock is always certified clear of hip dysplasia (only breeding OFA goods and excellents) as well as OFA normal elbows and clear eye checks.
